The Tennessee welcome center is spacious, has millions of awesome pee trees, and has a great spot for taking a state sign picture with your best friends. We arrived in Nashville in the early evening, much later than we had originally anticipated. My parents had been to Nashville before, so they immediately took me to their favorite restaurant: Peg Leg Porker. Dad claims they have the best ribs and baked beans in America.
That porker smelled drool-worthy. I might have drooled a little too much. Mom sat outside with me while Dad went in to order the dry-rubbed ribs. I have to say, I was particularly disappointed that Dad didn’t let me get my own dish other than a water bowl. However, they did give me pieces of the ribs without the seasonings. I was literally crying as I devoured each savory bite.
Once we were all full (I could have eaten more) we walked around Nashville and explored the downtown bars, restaurants, and shops. We came across this doggie in the window that my parents said looked a little like me. I don’t see the resemblance.
After a long, interesting walk, we headed to our hotel: Red Roof Inn Nashville. All the Red Roofs are dog-friendly, and this one had no pet fees or breed restrictions! The room was sparkling clean; had basic, no-frills amenities; and the beds were a bit harder than I like them. Overall, I thought the Red Roof Inn was a decent budget-friendly option for big dogs.
Ratings for Nashville, Tennessee:
Peg Leg Porker:
Peg Leg Porker is a great restaurant for humans, with its dog-friendly patio and delectable menu items, but I only gave it one paw because they don’t have enough menu items for doggies.
Downtown Nashville:
I think Nashville has cool dog-friendly pockets to walk around in, but I only gave it one paw because there are too many drunk people walking around at night.
Red Roof Inn Nashville:
Although the beds were a bit hard, the Red Roof Inn Nashville was a great budget-friendly option, was sparkling clean, and had no breed restrictions or pet fees. We would stay there again.
Stay tuned for my next blog post, where I talk about dog-friendly destinations and fun in St. Louis, Missouri.

As usual, Scarlett, my granddoggie is spot paw on. Thank you for critique of a restaurant to ‘drool’ for and the very comfortable hotel, Red Roof Inn, to nest in for the night. I give your review, 4 thumbs up! Looking forward to your next review…♡♡♡♡

You must, and make sure you get them dry-rubbed with the sauce on the side 🙂

This is for every dog lover. Sadly in many places traveling with pets is not allowed . I wish like
Nashville, there were dog- friendly pockets to hang around. Kudos to you to travel with your
pet.

I agree, it may be in issue to take her everywhere with us. Even if she can only go to all of the US and Canada in her lifetime, I think it’s better that we try and inspire people in the process. 🙂

Hey…I think I recognize that doggie in the window! Isn’t that Nipper, the dog from the old RCA record labels? If he was hanging out anywhere, I’d expect it to be Nashville. And about those ribs…they look, uhm…doggone good!

It is him, I just looked it up and found the statue! That is hilarious, we had no idea he was a significant pup. Apparently his name was Nipper because he used to bite the backs of visitors’ legs. The ribs were the best ever, we highly recommend trying them if you’re ever in Nashville.

If you have smaller dogs (40 pounds or less) there are nicer options around Nashville as well. Thanks girl!

Nashville is wonderful, be sure to visit Roberts Western World for the best live music and dancing. We don’t love country music, but Roberts was delightful.

Oh I am drooling at those ribs – as I’m sure most dogs and humans will be doing if they looked at them, they are amazing! Love your paw rating system, especially the comment about too many drunk people walking around at night, I can see that would be a problem for our four-legged friends 😀 #feetdotravel
